Question and answer
  • QUESTION Can you put on weight when you have your period?
  • ANSWER Some women find their weight increases just before their periods. This is because your body retains water before a period begins. Once your period starts, you’ll get rid of the water when you urinate and your body will go back to its normal weight. Some women find their appetite increases and they have a sugar craving before their period starts, and so they put on weight as a result. You can prevent this by ensuring that you eat regular meals and that your diet doesn’t contain lots of sugar.
